RCM selectively discontinues series coins and reports over the past number of years. They're a corporation to make money. No longer proud of their image in the coin collecting world

@canadian_coins: I do remember these reports, though I was never a purchaser of them - the coins were not part of my core collecting interest. Thanks for reminding folks of their existence. Quote: RCM selectively discontinues series coins and reports over the past number of years.
They're a corporation to make money. No longer proud of their image in the coin collecting world The RCM discontinued this series due to its low sales figures. (Check out the table included in the image.) Why should they be forced to continue something that few collectors apparently wanted? It would have been nice for collectors if they had continued the series through its completion, but I can understand why the stopped it. As far as the Annual Reports go, the RCM continues to make them available on its web site. They can be downloaded as PDF files. As far as the RCM's pride in its image, I believe they still do strive to be innovative and produce a high-quality product. I agree, however, that they have suffered some quality issues that are likely tied to its increased production. However, continuing negative comments from a handful or so folks here on CCF and other forums is hardly the way to get a sense of the overall pulse of the RCM's collector base. I think we forget sometimes how few people are actively participating here on CCF. There is a much bigger collecting universe out there.

I've got the 2003 coin and report and I'm looking to add the others. Here's a great example of a little loved product, that now many collectors are seeking to add. I like the image, thanks for posting. A good way to get a handle on collector base is to read reviews on a number of different coins. Several reviewers post on several coins purchases. These are mostly glowing reviews. It would be interesting to know total coin sales for a calendar year, and how it shifts yearly. The reading I have done indicates a lot of children and grand children will have a fair size nclt coin collection. The issues with the RCM also faces other mints, pricing and over supply. I have noticed in the past year we have lost many formerly active members, and this is a loss to the collecting community!! They always had solid contributions and weren't shy to post pics too. There used to be several threads with many photos, sadly this is in decline! I've tried a couple times to start a photo thread with little success.

Pay attention, please, on the issue price.
I do not own any of these (although they surely nice to have), but looks like this is the coin with projected mintage of 25K+ with papers / cardboard. And it priced CAD 25-48?
I believe, back in time, it could be demand for this series, would it be priced up to CAD 20.

Well, it's not much difference from RCM selling various circulation coin sets such as Baby set, Holiday Set, Wedding sets for ridiculous price. Look at this uncirculated set: http://www.mint.ca/store/coins/unci....Vopqf780N2w is selling for $24.95 which consisted of $4 value. I did not purchased any of these annual reports and probably won't buy it as I don't read these reports. However, I wouldn't mind buying the coins that contain in these reports.

Just got the coins by themselves. Wasn't worried about the reports.

I purchased the 4 reports as they were produced. I remember writing a very 'frustrated letter' the day I found out that there would be no dime, silver dollar, Looney, - or twonie to add to the collection. The reports remain in my collection, still in their respective delivery materials (opened, but mint condition).
Not too sure if they ever will appreciate.
Obviously, price point was an issue - at less than $30 they sold more of the first two, then the $40 price point for the final two. Although they had great expectation on 25,000 mintage but never sold even half the limit.

Its not a handful of negative people saying RCM coins have gong downhill. Its the vast majority of people on this forum who are saying the Mint is overproducing coins with high mintages and too many issues. Practically everyone is saying the same thing. As for the other forum, its gotten so bad they don't even talk about RCM coins, they are talking about coins from other countries. The people on this forum are the tip of the iceberg. You don't need to be on this or any other forum to see how RCM NCLT coins have slip. Just go to any coin auction and see the results. Coins just a few months old are selling for 40-50% off issue price. Or just go to the post office or Mint Boutique. Those places are jammed with unsold coins.

I bought the 2004 for the Quarter, never opened it, figured I would leave it as delivered so as to keep its value. I paid $25.95 in 2014. I assume it will not appreciate and now I plan to open that package. It should be enjoyed. I would still like to have the rest of the set. Neat coins.
