Hi
I picked up a 1964 Kennedy accented hair a while back. I was considering having it graded at PCGS or NGC, it is very nice possibly cameo or better, Then I noticed a small scratch/gouge adjacent to the T in Liberty. I am aware that mechanical damage can disqualify a proof coin from being graded. However this scratch is so small and not distracting at least to my eye I am wondering if it is worth the money to submit it to PCGS or NGC or if they would refuse to give it a grade. I took the best pics I could.
Thank you for insights

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. The coin is an accented hair. The pictures are obviously of the general obv/rev but also of the area where the scratch is located. The question is whether the small scratch/gouge by the T in Liberty would cause NGC or PCGS to refuse to grade the coin as it is a proof. Please see original post. Thank you for any insights related to the scratch/gouge and whether or not you think based on your expertise would NGC or PCGS still give this coin a grade.

I have personally not had any proofs graded, I do own a couple graded proofs..I doubt that they would grade the coin "impaired" or any other details designation, but, may just drop the grade. The fact is, the coin would have to grade better than PF-66 to be worth over $100, since they can be easily had for that price...They probably wont give this coin a better grade than that, IMHO,,and you will be out the Grading price and shipping..Not sure the reward is worth the risk,in this case...Hope my opinion helps!
