We all have various tastes and ideas on what constitutes a hot or desirable coin. So I am curious what members would create. It can be a written description or a drawing.

State weight, diameter, metal, mintage ,effigy and anything else I may have forgot. Possible packaging. You can tell now that I have reduced purchases, many questions are arising. I must be bored. Oh yeah pricing!

Kind of off topic.....but if I was running the show at the mint My idea to make some $$$$ would be a 1 kg Maple leaf bullion coin that's identical to the current 1 oz maple leaf bullion coins....priced about the same as the 1kg kooks.....

an ultra, ultra high releif, piedford 3oz, dual dated, 1935-2015 80th anniversary silver dollar featuring the same design as the 1935 silver dollar but in a satin matte finish and as stated before, in an ultra, ultra high releif. it would be priced at around $120.00 according to todays silver spot price and have a limited mintage of around 1500. I feel that this coin would, unlike most nclt coins, have a great increase in value due to the beauty, historical significance, more than reasonable price and very limited mintage.

forgot to mention it would be the same diameter as an original. just super thick for that cool appeal and to help the ultra, ultra high releif.

Nothing wrong with questions that get people to think!

I suppose I'm a traditionalist but in my opinion RCM has gone shamefully tacky in manufacturing metal containing the effigy of our head of state on one side with fantasy, sports, and virtually everything else known to mankind on the other. Hard to express but it strikes me as extremely disrespectful.....as if the value of money has lost its meaning (at the same time it becomes more and more common that we look for govt supports - is there a connection?)

Given a choice - affordabe commemorative and important themed issues that honour our country, our heritage and our people with the intention of generating a degree of dignity and significance back into Canada and it's NCLT coinage.

I like both ideas. Piedfort special edition of the old silver dollars would be a great idea. price would be around $75 with mintage of 2500. I wonder how much it costs for a pair of dies.

I would also like to see a silver 1 oz large cent with the different effigies, same diameter, priced at $75 mintage of 2500. I will be thinking of more. This could be a fun thread.

@ Whitetail Junkie back I have missed your insightful posts. I like the kilo idea, one would think the mint would be producing a limited run or even a 5 oz bullion version like some of the other mints do. Especially when they are looking to diversify profits. Its like a missed opportunity. Many loved the piedfort maples. One thing I know they cant do a decent cougar head, its always out of proportion.

I am hoping this thread will stimulate discussion and create some interesting ideas.

I cannot design and price my ideal NCLT coin.
Somebody has already beaten me to it.

The 2009 gold one ounce Double Eagle.
I can't think of a better design,
and the price in the NCLT aftermarket place has already been determined.

Mind you, I rather like my avatar, and it is certainly NOT Circulating Legal Tender these days. Then again, somebody has already designed that as well, and I cannot determine it's price in the numismatic market place, either.

2oz Silver coin, in the standard RCM dimentions, or Pridfort (38mm diameter, 8mm thickness) of:

**Canada gold Sovereign design
**Canada gold $5/$10 design
**Provincial Coat of Arms subscription without availability of singles.

1oz Silver standard RCM format:
**Non-accepted designes for circulation coins any denomination.

Set:
**Same as above, but as set, while the coins have original dimensions.

No colour, no "antique".

Mintage : 5000 (too low mintage harms to the coin's availability)

Price: CAD 60-70 for 1oz Proof silver coin
CAD 100-120 for 2oz Proof silver coin
CAD 100-150 - various denominations as Silver set

I would buy a coin from the RCM from the Maple leaf series but make it a proof maple leaf with a Somalian elephant privy mark, such as using the first year of issue from the somalian elephant as the privy.

1 oz presented in a wood box with black velvet interior.

The price would be todays spot price plus a 25 percent premium and only a mintage of 500. It would retail for 18.95.

I Wish RCM would do more specimen dollars, like the 2013 one. I drool over that version. Id like just the dollar and not the set.

I would also like to see a series on famous racehorses done as 1 oz silver, with the effigy of that year. Priced at $75. There are several famous racehorses and they could choose from several poses. For me the horse coins are few.

I would also like the commem 1982,1984 nickel dollars to be issued as 1 oz silver or even 2 oz, with 40-55mm to better show details. Especially the constitution dollar. Its so rich in detail. It and the 1974 nickel dollar are my favorites in that series. mintage would be 5k.

Interesting idea for privy marks. They do make the bullion interesting. Those milk spots are a huge deterrent to collecting as they sell so much higher than spot. The wolf privy is my favorite so far.

Privy was good idea, but even this over-produced.
Each one 50.000 but a lot of varieties gives millions privy SMLs.
SML with Panda Privy Mark is here....
Soon will be SML with Burning Maple Leaf privy

The burning Maple leaf privy would be cool. I wonder what it could look like. Maybe yingyang could do one up. I like his illustration. What is the lowest mintage of a privy maple. They need to be higher as they are bullion and many collectors have more than 1. My favorite finish is the reverse proof. We forget maples are sold worldwide. Those burning maples are doing quite well on secondary market.

I used to collect the color maples, as something different until I started to think of milk spots on the queen dropping them to spot prices. I also have the gilded ones. There is a variety of ways to collect in this hobby.
