I have been looking at the 2016 coin and I find the design appealing. However I want a coin with some engraving. Also one that wont be 50% of by next January. I have been researching the first coin and its seems to be doing ok. Does anyone know if this is a series, and how many will come out. I would like to see images of the real coin. I am not interested in glow function. What month did the first one come out.
This new one is grabbing my attention. I just don't like having to take time to return items. So I am very careful in placing internet orders. My post office doesn't have one. Is anyone else interested in these coins.

I ordered it,because I like innovative stuff. I thought it would be pretty cool to see the coin glowing in the dark with the wolves and northern lights.

You must post an image when you get one. I posted a couple questions on the mint site just now, hopefully the answers help. I am hoping someone will critique the firefly one and post an image. The mintage is nice and low. I didn't pay much attention at first, thinking it was a gimmicky coin. However, each time I see it, the images draw me in. The more I see it the more it beckons to me. I don't want a coin that looks pixelated and this happens with some coins. Nor do I want a sticker effect, or next Jan to find the coin is only worth $100. Not that I'm going to sell it. There is something comforting in knowing purchases are holding value. Its a psychological thing, hard to explain. I'm trying to cutback on the junk food purchases. Cheesecakes are so seductive and the pleasure so shortlived!!

Congrats for the people who collect this type of coins.
I see in this as painted sticker (ofcause it is a paint, and not a sticker), very weak theme for the first coin, and the "wolf" theme to warm interest.

The wolf/northern lights indeed is a very attractive coin. However I notice what I suspect is RCM testing what the market will bear and on principle I object so I shall pass. Because it seems to me that 1 oz prices are apps $100, 2 oz twice that and 5 oz five times. There's no reason it should cost twice as much to mint a 2 oz coin compared to 1 oz, given that production costs should not be double. Otherwise, perhaps RCM relies upon the false premise that 2x silver should be worth twice the cost. So even though I'm tempted, I just think the price is unjustified.......if it happens to appear next Boxing Day for $150 or less I'd probably reconsider.

Even though the howling wolves theme is overused this coin appeals to me, especially with the northern lights. Though the first coin is holding its value, I'm still reluctant at this point to click the buy button due to the recent smackdowns. I'm 50/50 at the issue price, but would buy it at $150.

I agree with what's been said. I would be all over it at $150. Its this coin or the longest reign set. Maples too have been done to death. @Loony I cant resist a good cheesecake, and it does go to the hips. Coins are diet friendly, and the enjoyment for years. Usually there was more debate on coins in years past. I don't consider GITD as unique, as its been done since 2012. They have been pricing 2 oz at $189 since the Tim Barnard coin. I doubt it will be a coin flippers will be all over. A video of the coin would of helped. How did the mint sell prior to the internet. maybe I should make my decision over a piece of cheesecake. LOL It helps to read others are on the fence too. Maybe my rep can send me a real image.

I didn't like the fireflies- they looked like they were from a 1950's nuclear explosion movie.
At 189 or 150- not much of a difference for me considering I buy to enjoy and not as an investment. The same reason I don't buy lottery tickets. I would rather invest in my financial portfolio. Much easier to buy and sell in the stock market ( although, right now I'm sitting on my hands- lol) .

In those days prior to the Internet, RCM mainly sold their wares by display at Post Offices. And a trip to the local Post Office to buy stamps occurred far more frequently because people mailed, for example, cheques to pay bills, letters and postcards. RCM also mailed out catalogues and brochures, that hasn't changed either.

Like all NCLT buy only what you like, there is no rush and reason why this coin you cannot buy from CCC, or any of the larger RCM dealers cheaper than issue and chances are eventually at a huge discount at the many CP outlets.

I doubt buying it cheaper from Cc&C, they are charging $289 on both of their venues. It was moving on the coin show, with Bromberg admitting it was over issue. This is what makes me think, best get it prior to price hike. Getting from the mint, it will go towards my MC membership. I don't get why the first coin is selling for so much.
