People do a lot of crazy things that can ruin coins. What bothers you the most? Those oval tourist trap souvenirs? Using a quarter to unscrew something? Using them for crafts? Maybe a forth thing I didn't think of?

Most of those things don't really bother me. I guess I'd have to say dishonest grumpy sellers who try and take advantage of new coin collectors and suck the joy out of them. Those who impose rules on the way to collect, or what to collect. Those are the most destructive 'coin practices' that bother me.

Kinda off topic, but it's the mood I'm in. Train tracks is my favorite. So much fun squishing them :)
But biggest pet peeve: Giving collector coins to people who truly could care less and who then proceed to treat them as such.

Nothing bothers me unless it directly affects me. Call me crazy but I don't worry about things out of my control usually

I don't care what anyone does to their coins. The more coins they ruin the more valuable mine become.

I get crazy when somebody takes a perfectly good (or great) Au-MS Lincoln Cent and dips it or scrubs it to make it better. Other coins too, but small cents...

Melting silver coins. Of any kind, and any condition (except those that are slick or with nothing left but the outline of a Liberty head).

Misspelled words. Kidding, I guess with coins its cleaning. I've known since I was a kid not to do that.

When I first started collecting coins 50 years ago, it was recommended you spray clear lacquer on your Mint State coins to preserve them..
It was also popular finding ads for cleaning coins...
While none of the above bother me, when I harshly cleaned a throw a way nasty looking Cent, many members here did not like the fact that I cleaned a 1960d/d large over small date Lincoln...
Guess you really needed to see a "before" photo (that was not taken).

Family members who are oblivious to coin collecting. If I tried to show them a nice pickup, It's like I have the black plaque or something.

See I don't have that. Basically I've sparked interest, however small, in most family members. For instamce, just last night night my 21yo brother stopped by and made sure to bring a quarter he wanted to ask me about. It was just a saratoga so I told him.about the ATB program and he was educated if only a little. Then I showed him a saratoga bullion & P puck and his jaw dropped. They all love the fact that by nature of the hobby it allows the accumulation of pm's.
