All I wanted was the flying eagle, and I think I can sell the rest of the coins to make up the cost of the whole lot. What would you have paid?

The '64, and '66 IHCs aren't too bad either. Obviously fake Coronet Cent top left. The rest of the lot isn't worth too much. Yeah, the FEC is a nice one. Looks to possibly be XF if nothing wrong with it. I'm guessing I'd certainly pay $75-$100 for the lot, and feel like I stole it for less than $50.

The top left coin is an 1837 Hard Times Token.

I'll say $65 . The only good coins are the FEC and IHC's.

$100. Also, check to see if that 1864 copper cent has an "L", with a little Verdi-care that's around $100 or more in XF (you can clearly see the lower ribbon separating from the hair). The Flying Eagle is also a nice XF worth around $75, plus having the Hard Times Token, the semi-key 1866 which is likely at least a Fine based on the reverse detail, along with the 1859 cent in Fine make this a great buy if you paid that much or less, and these would have been nice upgrades (and a nice addition with the Hard Times Token, worth around $15-$20).

I would've easily paid $15 for the FEC or the 1859 separately. Maybe $10 for the 1864, the 1866, or the token, and another $10 for the rest of the first two lines (the other two IHCs, the V nickel and the plugged large cent).
The third line is, of course, worth less than a dollar. (I wouldn't quite say it's worth face value, but definitely under a dollar.)

That's a total of $70 and some cents, I believe (not that I would be able to actually pay that much).
Rest in Peace

I'd be a buyer at $75, which is probably safe. I can't see the details on some of the coins as well as I'd want before going higher. But I don't think it's possible to go wrong at that price, or less, of course.

The 1864 is definitely not the "L" variety.

I guess I did well at $70.

Well done, I would have gone up to about $80 based on those pictures and felt pretty comfortable.

For $70, you should be able to sell the other coins for close to that amount, if not more.

1866 IHC - Cream of the crop for this lot. Looks like it has a fairly prominent scratch on the headdress.

1857 Flying Eagle cent - Higher grade but likely not problem free judging by the pictures.

1859 IHC - Heavily worn.

The rest are basically throw-ins, none worth much more than a few bucks each at best.

Personally I try to avoid lots like this since I've seen my local dealers make offers on this kind of stuff from walk-ins and they are not particularly strong because they already have tons of similar coins in their inventory and they sit for awhile without buyers.

I agree with T-BOP on his value assessment.

I'm not going to sell to other dealers. I'm going to sell them to other collectors on ebay, my coin club, and this forum.

I guess it doesn't look too bad up close. The first pictures made it appear unnaturally shiny. Hope it turns out well for you.

Sounds good. ebay seems to get good money out of these types of affordable collector coins.

Let us know how it turns out in the end.
