I have never known them to ever haggle - what do you expect from Rich Hill... Best thing you can do: take a business card from the other place and put your preferred spot price on it and when you're deep into the deal whip it out and just pretend to leave because you don't like the price. They are competitors and they know it. Even if you buy/sell at the other place you still come out winning because they have pretty fair prices if you know your stuff (most is retail though so knowledge is key!) Just go back and forth and play with them, it's pretty fun lol!

As for actual Toronto, I will recommend Shawn at Eglinton and Avenue (northeast corner next to the locksmith). He may not always have exactly what you want at the time so check in off and on. He doesn't mind talking, which is sometimes a rarity in the Coin World. PLUS! He knows his stuff.

Thanks Libertad, I will check that one out the next time I'm in the city. Any dealer who likes to talk coins is fine by me! I think the main reason I go is to talk coins, I only end up buying something because I feel bad about taking up so much of the poor guy's time.

Jared Stapleton at Metro Coin & Banknote on Annette Street is a good place to go as well in Toronto. Certainly not the selection that CC&C has, but Jared is also a paper money collector, and has built up the Toronto Coin Expo as a major show for collectors (as opposed to a show for dealers). You can also consign items for the Geoffrey Bell Auctions at his shop.

Jared will happily chat with you, however his real expertise lies in banknotes and banknote errors, not so much coins - but we are teaching him!!

Jared is also president of the Canadian Paper Money Society.

Thanks SPP. Looks like I may have to plan another trip downtown in the near future.
