Hi,

I'm shopping for a couple certified Buffalo nickels in the 64 range and noticed a significant (25% or so) price difference between Numismedia and PCGS, with PCGS being lower.

Can anyone suggest fair prices for PCGS or NGC certified MS64's of the dates from 1934-1937. I am particularly interested in the 34, 36 S, and 37 S?

Thanks

You can search the bay for sold listings that are current. That's the only "fair" prices to me, what people are willing to pay.
Rest in Peace

Completed items on the Bay are most certainly the best up to the minute price evaluation. It also helps educate you on what a coin will NOT sell at as many sellers list the same BIN (Buy it Now) price week after week after week for the same coin. It's also possible to see if someone has continued to list a coin you are interested in. If it hasn't sold for weeks at a given price, there must be a reason. Usually, auction will almost always result in the lowest prices paid.

You can also look at heritage for completed sales, just subtract 17.5% from the sold price. If the final price is under $100 subtract $14. From some quick looking at sales the 36s and 37s should be around $35 and the 34 would be around $80.

Bluesheet has the 34 @ $74, 36s @ $26, and 37s @ $24

This sounds about right. Most of these were hopeful 65 or 66 submissions that didn't make it. I think they will always be pretty common.
