Hi, folks...
I just wanted to share a new medal acquisition that came in the mail today. It's a silver medal issued in 1969 from the Philadelphia mint that commemorates Winston Churchill's 1946 "Iron Curtain" speech, which was delivered in Fulton, Missouri, at Westminster College.
It also commemorates the 1969 dedication of the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Aldermanbury. It was originally built in London in the late 11th or early 12th Century, rebuilt in 1672 after the Great Fire of London and finally rebuilt here in Fulton in 1966 after being almost completely destroyed during World War 2.
This medal is special to me because I live here in Fulton and I see this magnificent church on a daily basis. It's truly a sight to behold, especially if you tour the inside. I mean come on...a 17th Century British church in Missouri? Pretty cool. In the complex is also the National Churchill Museum and eight sections of the Berlin Wall.
Anyway, I just wanted to share this interesting bit of local (to me, at least) history. :)

A picture I took of the church, with the Berlin Wall in the foreground...
