Rich from IL.... somewhat new to coin collecting. My mother In law used to sort coins with her father... and she recently stumbled upon all of them... (my there are a lot). She brought over 3 boxes of coins to give to my daughter to play with... when I noticed the Morgans, Peace dollars etc etc..... I told my kid that we had to look through all of them for good ones before losing them to the couch. So now I think I have gone through most of them... learning a lot while doing it and had fun with my 4 year old... I have to say thanks to everyone in this place for sharing your knowledge... I had to join up to the forum to share my gratitude... (and maybe learn even more). I will try to refrain from posting a blurry picture of every individual penny with the comment of "How much is this one worth?!" (I do have one nickel I want to ask about... but that doesn't go in an introduction.)

Since you've been reading along with us you know there are plenty of folks here than are always willing to help answer questions. Sometimes we even get the answers right! Please let us see some of your goodies and ask any questions you have. I love looking at new stashes of coins, even if they are not mine.

thanks guys... not sure which pictures to post ( and where)... I literally the pennies all bagged up by year from 1916 to now. (I was trying to sort and search based on this guide or that guide... but I kept finding new information... so I decided to just sort by year so that I can go digging if something new came up)... Found a cool old civil war token.... and a 1948 Copper penny that someone modified to look like 1943 (and caused me to almost have a heart attack) I have a picture of the Buff Nickel that seems weird to me.... but I can't seem to find the spot I put it for "Safe Keeping" /facepalm so of course I don't recall the year... The portion I am eyeballing is the mint mark... it almost looks like there is a D over D mark?

to CCF! Sounds like any questions should be directed either to the U.S Modern section or the U.S. Classic section. There is a listing of types below each on the main page. Hope that you get the most out of collecting with your daughter. LazloH - that does look like the D over D.

to CCF Rich. Thanks for the chuckle I got when I read this "I told my kid that we had to look through all of them for good ones before losing them to the couch" I'm looking forward to seeing what else didn't end up in the couch.
