2015 Bombay Hook Weak P Mint Mark - Coin Community Forum

I searched and searched online, but wasn't able to find much of anything about it. The P mint mark is extremely weak, but all the other details are very clean. The only thing I was able to turn up was one page with a photo and a brief story similar to mine. The photo below is from that page, but this is exactly what my coin looks like. Any thoughts? tdc New Member United States 2 Posts	Posted 02/20/2016 5:20 pm I found another quarter with an even weaker mint mark. If you look closely the A in America, the st in Trust and We all appear to be weakly struck. The mintmark is not raised much at all, but is barely visible. Does this look like a Grease Filled Die only or a weak strike of sorts? Report this Post to the Staff
coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 02/20/2016 7:07 pm If the devices are thinner on the area in question compared to the side by side example, it maybe a case of over polishing. If it were a grease error, then these devices would be wider or completely gone. (depending on how the grease filled in the die) Report this Post to the Staff
tdc New Member United States 2 Posts	Posted 02/20/2016 8:02 pm Thank you. I looked carefully and the devices are not thinner so it is a grease error. The P mint mark appears relatively clearly in this macro photo, but when I first found the coin, it appeared as if it had no mint mark. Report this Post to the Staff
