Poll Question
I'm curious as to who or how many of us are bullion collectors. Bullion collector as in willing to pay a premium, high premium or even whatever you have to over melt value in order to obtain a particular bar or coin for whatever reason. I would be interested to hear what it is if you are and what makes it special to you or any other comments or thoughts.

I have paid between $16-20/oz for bullion of different types to have different looking rounds/bars rather than the bare minimum generics. I have a hard time justifying more than $20/oz though.

I have paid a $5 premium on maple bullion not sure if this considered high. I have also paid $99 for coloured or gilded bullion, so I'm not sure how to vote. Can you define if you mean plain bullion, special edition, also at what point is a premium high. As different coins carry various premiums. Great topic.

I give my niece a ounce every birthday always a different design. I been running pandas and Kookaburra lately not to have the same design.

Bullion for myself is situation. I'm not trying to create a silver hoard just a lot of interesting items that are made of silver. That being said it's mostly having 90% coins that fit my albums.

I have only bought one silver round for myself ever and it was a privateer round and I got it because it was cool over all cost was the concern not the premium. The last time I bought a government bullion or nclt was back when I could get a silver eagle for under $8.

I've collected generic, bar and gov bullion, off and on since the late 1970's. I've bought at the highs and the lows, premiums really aren't a concern to me, if I want it, I buy it.

I do not buy bullion at any price. I do have a few 1 oz. silver bars that I obtained many years ago. For me it's strictly coins; Classic and modern up to 1964.

For a few years I collected Engelhard poured bars and Prospector rounds and also rolls of BU & proof 90% silver coins. That stuff carries good size premiums. I pretty much stick with ASEs these days.

Yes, I would consider myself a bullion collector. I'll go out of the way to buy high grade silver Eagles and Mexican libertads for my collection, in addition to interesting world bullion coins as I find them.

Yes, I am a bullion collector of particular types.

I will pay any premium necessary to obtain a coin I need for one of my sets, or if I just like a certain coin / round.

Bullion collector? No. Most of my bullion is generic rounds and bars. But I do enjoy junk silver and am willing to pay a bit more than I otherwise should for historical coins, especially if they are in decent condition.

I am a bullion collector but only particular types.

First at the top of the list are Somalian elephants, follow by the Benin elephants. Then I collect other animals coins I like, such as rhinos, hippos, zebras, and other neat looking animals I like.

the continued downtrend in gold and silver however has put me off from buying recent bullion coins and I am buying very little. If I do buy, I get coins from 2-3 years back as the premiums drop on them.

I would say I like the "brand bullion" like Engelhard. As I've collected those bars of all sizes ( 1 oz, 3oz, 5oz, 10, 20 etc) - While prices have dropped, their premium associated with the brand has remained. Maybe not as much, but not as bad as lets say generic silver 1 oz round.

On the other hand, one move I did was purchase five 2oz Zeus Silver Rounds from the Perth Mint which had a mintage of 1,500. I purchased 5 of them for an average of $290 dollars each. They all sell for over $500+ now on ebay.I don't plan on selling any of them but completing sets along the way.

Gold on the other hand ....I'll take anything that is .99999 24k.
