Hey all

The Only thing I can make out is the 5. the reverse is blank as far as I can tell. The coin itself is aluminum I think. It's a bit thicker then a US nickel too.

I wonder if this is a slug mass-produced for vending machines back when a nickel meant something? Is it the same diameter as a nickel? Perhaps it was thicker to better simulate the nickel's weight?

it's a fraction of a mm bigger then a US cent. the 5 appears to be painted or stained onto the coin as well

Are my stupid theories worth that slug? Then I'll guess they were produced cheaply to avoid theft in a vending situation like a laundromat.

Actually, I've seldom used laundros, but seeing how deserted they are, a substitute for coin would be a good idea.
