Mike, have you forgotten how ICCS grades? Since when do they look at the reverse that closely?

Besides, I told you this - ICCS like clean fields, they are very harsh with marks in the fields, and forgiving on the devices... A good portion of the Canadian collector base like that style of grading.

Like I said earlier, it is almost impossible to find a 2003 or 2004 loon dollar without these "ghost marks" on them...

Have been a supporter of ICCS since their inception. Lately especially with dollars they are all over the roadmap. Looks like they have finally surrendered and are now market grading like NGC and PCGS. YUK to an old timer like me.
Right now based on the last two years of submission ANACS are the only ones still strictly applying the old standards to silver dollars.
Will agree with Roger that eye appeal has a place in evaluating a coins value but certainly not the technical grade. Welcome to the brave new world of market grading.

Even worse is when you need to explain to a newer collector that there is not a single way to grade. Then factor in how 'eye appeal' is a floating standard that's virtually impossible to agree on.

You mean, like this one?

Really-An-MS-66-Or-Is-There-Fraud-Going-On?-2003-Loon

PCGS graded it MS-66 Brown, the surfaces are absolutely pristine... any takers on what the ICCS certificate was for this same coin?

Or this one... what do you think ICCS graded this one as? It is now in a PCGS holder (and correctly graded, in my opinion), what grade do you think each TPG gave it?

I wouldn't be at all surprised if ICCS had this graded as MS65.
Congratulations on the single finest grading

Roger what a wonderful way of putting my words into your pictures. What a pretty 1924. Exactly what I meant!
Knowing how ICCS looks at copper. Probably MS 64 lustrous Brown or trace red.
I have a 1926 like your 24 . ICCS called it 64 trace red.
The 1940 Newfoundland is a stunning piece. Nice!

I can see those both being graded at one time 'ICCS MS62 Lustrous Browns'

I actually prefer the look on the Canada Small cents that blueish brown like your 1924, beautiful piece!

P.S. I would guess the NFLD small cent at MS65 Brown as a PCGS coin?
