Here's the descrip from the Venice page at Beastcoins that, I believe, fits the bill - or comes close...note Zach Beasley's comment at the bottom regarding the "R" in the reverse right field...given the fact that his coin and Arkie's are not from the same dies, I wonder if the "R" is indeed "an engraver's error" as he suggests...it would have had to have been an error repeated at least twice:
Italian States-Venice, Antonio Venier as Doge (1382-1400), Grosso, Type Two, Venice Mint, Uncertain Mintmaster
Obverse:
ANTO . VENERIO-. S . M . VENETI .
St. Mark and the Doge standing facing, holding pendant flag between them, D / V / X in center field
IC | XC
Reverse:
Christ, nimbate, enthroned facing, holding book of Gospels
* | R across fields
Paolucci 37.2
Note: Stahl does not record a name associated with a mintmaster initial of R and I cannot determine any in the date range of 1382-1400 which would support a hypothesis for using an R. Perhaps an engraver error?
