Just a general question. When a seller has a BIN with a BEST OFFER option, and the buyer submits an offer, and the seller accepts the offer, it seems to me the buyer should have to pay immediately. I've had a couple of these situations lately, and accepted the buyers offer, and then they didn't pay immediately, so I sent them an invoice. No real complaint here, just seems to me they should have to pay similar to a BIN, since it's not an auction.

Thoughts.

I would give it some time since the buyer may not be aware that they just bought something. The buyer may have submitted an offer with the intention of returning days later to check if it it was accepted. What would irk me would be if a buyer click on buy it now and then not pay immediately since there is no excuse to not knowing that you have purchased something.

This sucks... I am in a similar situation right now. I agree that when you hit "buy it now" you should be forced to pay right away.

I would pay you right away because that is the way I am.
I can not come up with a logical reason not to other than people who use public internet access as their only means to be online.
Make an offer and then sign off until next time they're out.

It's been awhile since I've bought an item with the "BIN/Best Offer" set-up, but I'm pretty sure that I needed paperwork verified by ebay to make the payment. I don't know if a buyer can authenticate the 'amount due' with just an e-mail agreement between the buyer and seller.
I apologize in advance if I'm wrong with my thinking. I'm hoping that someone who deals with "best offer" sales more commonly can post a more officiate response.

Just to clarify, so there's no confusion. If a buyer does click the BIN, they are required to pay immediately (if I'm not mistaken,) but when there is a best offer situation, and the buyer submit's an offer, and the seller accept's, they aren't required to pay immediately.

But as D0ubl3Eagle suggested, the buyer might not know the offer was accepted, hence the delay. That's a good explanation.

COTW, are you saying that someone clicked the Buy It Now button on something you are selling, and didn't pay? Yeah, that would really stink!

OK, so there is a box in the payment options on the listing page you can check to require immediate payment for the BIN option. It doesn't apply to the Best Offer option though, and ebay is very clear about that.

I've also heard of sellers buying like items without paying in an attempt to take items similar to what they're selling off of ebay until theirs sells. I don't know how prevalent it is but I've heard of it happening before

I have had a few people BIN then send me a message "I will pay you next week" then next week comes and goes and they don't pay...

Bottom line is there are a lot of plonkers in the world, and most can be found online.
Rest in Peace
