There was no D/S for 1954. There was a S/D

I believe that was debunked as a die gouge. I do not believe it is listed anymore. Even so, where do you see evidence of the S on your coin?

OK, but that is not where it shows on the photo in the Cherrypicker's Guide. The photo in the book shows something inside the hole of the D and nothing below it. On die varieties they have to match. What you are seeing is either a hit that the mint mark took while in circulation or Machine Doubling which is quite common during the minting process.

You will, just keep looking. I can go through a whole box from the bank and come up with nothing. That is what makes the chase exciting.

I don't see a listing for D/D on CONECA that matches this one. There is a D/D south, (#1), but your mint mark is further south than the #1s location.

I also have a D/D from this year but I found this and tried doing some research but found very little about it. I wish I had a better way to get a picture because there is definitely an S coming out from under the D. If it's fake or not I don't know

Here is an overlay of a Jefferson nickel S on top of my nickel. Compared to my previous photo it looks like my nickel is a D/S. Like I said real or not I do not know

Are you defusing the light source? Seems like a lot of glare. What kind of camera are you using?
