Hello everyone, I am making this post because I was reading on another forum about some guy in California who is giving every other CRHer a bad name. Here are some quotes I read that make me angry and disappointed on the inside:
"Dump banks don't get the sweetheart treatment from me since I just dump there." -That's one mistake this guy is making since getting a good dump bank is easier said than done. I can't say I have a good one yet, but I'm searching in lower volumes compared to boxes of halves a week, and my planned dump bank has multiple branches which have coin counters.
"I have a business account where I have a bunch of cash there. They have no choice but to take my dumps." -That's shouting entitlement right there, and he probably doesn't realize that banks can kick you out at the drop of a hat.
Basically, this guy is acting entitled about how a teller wouldn't give him a small portrait 100 dollar bill, and he keeps telling her that if she doesn't give him the bill, he's gonna complain to management and get her fired. One of his posts mentioned when he asked for the bill, but get this: he didn't ask for it, he told her to "give it to me." When a teller shows me an old bill, I always make sure to ask if I can trade, I never act greedy or entitled because that will make me disliked by the tellers. Nowhere in any posts does this guy mention gratefulness for being allowed to dump coins, and the topic is now 5 pages long and was just created yesterday, so I'm glad that multiple other users realize the error of his ways and are trying to talk sense into him.
The point is, always appreciate what the tellers do for you. Banks are a business, not a CRH store. They have every right to do what management allows them to if that includes setting collectible currency aside for themselves or refusing service to you.

I finished reading the 5 page topic and most of the people who have been arguing with this guy since day 1 are convinced he's a troll. Maybe he is, maybe not. But with the internet, you never know. I honestly hope this guy isn't being serious, because he's definitely been ACTING like a troll.

Well, this guy sure isn't improving our image. The thing is, for every idiot like him there are dozens of good CRHers who treat their banks' employees politely and don't take their situation for granted. However, the public sees guys like him and it gives us a bad name. I'm just glad it was on a coin forum and not on a non-collector website where there aren't as many CRHers to defend our position.

I don't think he is trolling. I think he is legit. He is a Jerk. Plain and simple.

I also agree he's not a troll.. I'm hoping he's an Internet tough guy.... With $150k in th account he'd be wiser to just order $20k+ (not sure how easy that is) in 100's unsearched rather than have a teller pick out old bills for him.. It's not their job to pick through their til for themselves or some entitled guy holding up the line having them do him a favor flipping through stacks and then have him throw a fit

As collectors, when we interact with people in public - and PARTICULARLY bank tellers whom we drop off coins to - we're ambassadors to the very hobby of coin collecting. The first impression and lasting relationships with your local teller can be rich and fulfilling; why would one decide to spoil it with self-entitled mentalities of "gimme this and that now or be reported!". It's a sad story, and I hope that others will look at every opportunity to spread the joy of the hobby with others as a positive one.
