Hi to all.
I'm amazed to find a forum so full of so many people enthusiastic about old money. I haven't caught the bug as of yet,and have some old bills passed down from my dad.
I'll enclose a scan of a $100 bill I have. I'm sure dad got it from the bank and put it away as it's crisp. The batteries on my portable scanner went out, but here's an idea of the others.
The old $2 bill with the eskimos on the back,Lawson Bouey, have a series of four from RM3203291 including ....294. Dad obviously got them from the bank and put them away. They're crispy so UNC I guess?
The same series of $1 bills, with the parliament buildings on the back: BAE6451414 and ...415 then the same prefix but a series from ..419 to ...422. Crow Bouey Dad got these from the bank and put them away. They are crisp, a bit bent but not folded. I guess envelope in the box got moved. I'd think if they were in a book for a while they'd flatten out perfectly.
I'm just wondering if these are worth more due to a series,I have no trust in currency buyers. I know they want to make money but often are ripoffs..
My dad was a milkman in the 1950s,and he collected the payments and saved most all of the big silver coins. I'm not exaggerating that mom has 6 ice cream buckets of wrapped quarters, half dollars, and dollar coins.
A few years ago she mentioned that a "friend" and her husband were going to come by and buy them all for $200. I got angry and told her not to sell, she wanted to go through as she promised them...I got in my car and drove 4 hours in order to stop the deal. I got there 20 minutes before they showed up,told them they were crooks and to "get lost" They got angry etc I just told them off,mom was mad at me but changed her mind when I told her that just one coin could be worth $1000. She talks little to them, but they call up to "chat" every couple months.
I haven't had time to go though it all,and in fact I took off a wall panel in the house and hid them in case mom gets talked into selling them for $200 again.
Anyways, that's my story and hope you find it interesting, and thanks in advance for any advice.
regards
Dave

.. Dave, to CCF enjoy your stay with us.. Looks like you have a nice 1954 $100 bill it is a 'modified' not a DV but very nice, can't tell you the value but, one of the bill collectors will be around and inform you what you have.

Dave! Like SHAFTA mentioned above, the $100 note above is the modified version from 1954. The pictures are a little small to get a good estimate on the grade, however there looks to be a bit of wear, as well as some minor folds. I'd say the note is around EF Condition. As for value, you could probably get around $150 plus or minus a couple of dollars.

Hi all. Thanks for the posts, that's great. And thanks CB for your ideas. I'm not sure of the lingo but it's never been folded. I didn't push down on the scanner lid. If anyone wants a better view of any coin or scan, you can right click and save the pics, then open them up and zoom in. I'm wondering if the bright light from the scanner shows up things that one wouldn't see as opposed to ones that were photographed? At any rate, here's a couple pix of a couple coins I got from my dad. Thanks again guys. Is anyone interested in seeing the $2 bill and $1 bill series?

That's quite the story, your mom is very fortunate that she has you looking out for her best interests. The very worst examples of older people getting taken advantage of often pertain to "friends" whom they should be able to trust.
And Welcome to the forum!

I'd think if they were in a book for a while they'd flatten out perfectly. Unfortunately, these prefixes are both very common, even in Unc condition. If you found the right buyer, you might get $2 each for the $1 notes, and $4 each for the $2 notes

Quote: I'd think if they were in a book for a while they'd flatten out perfectly. Don't do this as it will devalue them, its best just to leave them as is. If you place them in a book it will flatten the embossing.
