Hey Guys & Gals, I was going to post this as a you vs. ?, but I really just need some help and advice. I've never been a big Barber fan and don't know what to look for. This would be a Type coin for me and I want something circulated and with character. Blast white in a slab does absolutely nothing for me. So if you were buying and this was the coin being offered, what grade would you put on it and how much would you consider a fair offer?

I am not one of the big graders of this site, but I want to try being the first uninfluenced comment to see how well I am doing. I would say XF-45 I am really curious to hear what others have to say. Probably wold pay $175 for that. I must say, that I really love your idea of a nice coin. Blast white is pretty, but this is truly beautiful. Well done.

With the amount of wear I don't think it make EF, I'm going to say VF-30.

Solid 45. One 'eye catcher' mark to left of chin on obverse, but not a detail problem. Anything south of $200 is a good buy on a good type.

PSGS photograde makes the Barber half an easy coin to grade. Just watch the details on the wing feathers on the reverse progress outwards as the grade increases.

EF-40 ,A little on the dark side .not for me, cut on chin is too distracting . don't pay more than $150.

I would grade this one XF40 really close to 45. I think the reverse holds it back a little. also, I find the hit on the chin to be pretty noticeable and is in a high-impact area of the coin. personally I would pass just because of that especially if I was shelling out that kind of $ but the coin does have a nice overall look.

The coin is in a ANACS slab, rated as EF-40, so you guys were all in the ballpark. As far as price, though (and I'm including myself) the seller's asking price is a little too high at $265. The seller will consider offers so I need to figure out what this coin is worth to me without offending the seller. I think I'm going to sleep on it and offer somewhere around $200-225. Thanks everybody for your opinions and suggestions. It really does help to have more eyes and experience when comes to a coin I'm not certain about. Keep the critiques coming and I'll let y'all know what transpires.

Biedercoins , If you only want a Barber Half for a type set then I don't know why you would want this one. There are a lot of decent Barbers out there with NO problems for the kind of money your looking to spend. IMHO, don't pull the trigger on this one.

Well, I did it. It was a little high, but still within the budget for this piece. There's something I like about it and all of the others just didn't have the appeal of this piece. I'm happy about it!

Mid VF details. Low eye appeal. Not my cup of tea, but to each his own. I am surprised it's in a full-grade holder from any TPG; it's not really market acceptable in a lower grade.
