I've actually been thinking about roll searching dimes myself lately, but not so much for silver. I'm searching more for impaaired proofs, or maybe a 1996 W that got spent by some kid who got a mint set for their birthday....I know it's unlikely, but hey, I can dream.

I've been going through Dimes lateley and have found around 30 Silver Roosevelts. Mostly from the early 50's. Also have gotten 4 Silver Washington's in the past month in change from various retailers.

I read somewhere else on this forum that someone had gotten I think 5 boxes of dimes and came away with just a few silver FDR dimes total.

yea I havent tried going through boxes, but from my work experience theres usually an adverage of like 1 silver dime per bag, a bag holds $500 so thats like 1 dime per every 2 boxes. Quarters are absolutley terrible its like 1 for ever 15 - 20 bags which each hold 500 dollars so perhaps 1 for every 10,000 dollars or so. Not the best odds.

I haven't started roll hunting through dimes yet (as I've been busy with nickels so far), but I did find about 4 silver Rosies and 1 silver Mercury - interesting thing was all of those were found while roll hunting through Pennies (about 10 boxes). From what it sounds like, maybe I have better luck finding silver dimes in boxes of Pennies than Dimes

Hi all, this is my very first post on this site! I started reading through the original post while I was at work this afternoon. It prompted me to open the cash drawer and bust open the roll of dimes I had gotten some months back. Lo and behold, I found a 1956! So thanks for getting me off my behind to see what I could find!

I found a 1941 merc, but it looked like someone had dropped it in a garbage disposal. A lot of deep cuts on it.

I have found 3 Mercury's searching dimes. In fact they are the three I posted in the coin grading section. I also found an '08 Barber. I have been averaging 2 silvers a box. Today's box only gave me one though. Unfortunately I don't know if it is 50% or 80% silver. I also got a '96 5 Pence.

I've not searched a whole box but I do get mix rolls of coins alot from the bank to search when cash a check. One roll had a merc in it. Also picked up a 1958 silver quarter from my change this week. Guess people are cashing in all those jars of coins for gas money. Wish I had a coin star franchise going here.

Bowfin, I do believe that all of the 1967 Canadian 10, 25, 50 cent and Dollars are 80%. I don't think that the 50% came along until 1968.
