We recently started doing dimes. Of 2 boxes so far we've goteen 8 Silvers, one of those a 1928 Mercury and about 20 High Grade 1982 and 1983's both mints, and a gorgeous BU 1967. I think I could get to like this!

After reading this thread I tried a box of dimes. Found 2 silver, one 1964d and a really beat up 1952. Think I like halves better they are easier for me to see. lol The nice thing was my bank had boxes of dimes on hand so I did not need to order one.

Has anyone ever found a proof dime or 96 W dime from searching bank boxes?

Proofs aren't too hard but I think I've only heard of a single W mint coin and it's just hearsay.
I've gooten at least three or four proof dimes over the years and lots more proof quarters.
Time don't fly, it bounds and leaps.

Did another box today with the same result. Think I may need to try another bank.

Got 2 rolls the other day. Found 2 double die 1984s. At work, I once found 5 mercurys, all 40s.

Hey, all, when you're searching those rolls, could someone keep their eye out for a nice '69? It's the last one I need for my folder, and I haven't been able to locate one...

How nice is nice? Are we talking an MS or just circulated? I come across them regularly, but they are never perfect. If I find one in a roll I will PM you.

Circulated, but as lightly circulated as possible...and yes, please PM me if you find one.

I rarely find a '69 anymore. I know I put a few circulated away back in the 80's because of the lower mintage.

I know the hit ratio on dimes is terrible - but every so often miracles happen. I was in Walmart about 2 months ago and got a few rolls of nickels, quarters, and dimes to search at night. The nickles and quarters delivered nada. Now imagine my surprise when I opened the dimes and got a whole roll of 59-63 silvers! I noticed that the wrapper was very old and had the name of a Texas bank that I don't think exist anymore. The next day I went back to the same Walmart and ask for more rolls of dimes - all had new wrappers on them and got home in searched and got nothing. At this point I was figured that roll of silver dimes was just a fluke and forgot about it for a bit - a full 2 weeks later I go to the same Walmart and notice the same original teller there. I tell him I collect dimes (I never mention silver, hehe....only say I am building a 1900-2000 dime set)....anyway I ask if he's got any more dimes in those old rolls.....to my surprise he pulls out 5 more rolls like that! Of course I take every one of them and get home and they are all pure silver! The problem when such things happen is its like winning the jackpot in Vegas, it creates an instant addiction...;)
