XF details, cleaned, reverse damage (a gouge and a scrape), obverse has rim damage. It's still appealing as an exemplar of the variety. I think this is PMD, not a strike through grease.

Solid AU 50. Does not exhibit any hints of cleaning. Grease strike through would need to be noted on a submission.

I don't think the color is right, which is why I thought cleaned; perhaps recolored instead. It is entirely incongruous with the wear; that color isn't usually seen out of MS or AU, even then only rarely, and this coin has no trace of luster.

It is entirely incongruous with the wear; that color isn't usually seen out of MS or AU, even then only rarely, and this coin has no trace of luster. The coin is not cleaned or retoned. I do the best I can with pics and shoot with a Canon Rebel / 60mm macro and 45 degree(ish) lighting that picks up a lot of detail. The toning looks great and natural when I am looking at my HP but my Mac does give an slightly atificial look (new screen new tone). In hand the toning is good; compares to "Chocolate steel/ reddish chocolate" in the Grading Guide for Early American Copper Coins:) I do wonder if the small area of fresh showing metal near the A of states would keep it out of a holder. I thank all of you for replies and the above is not ment to sway your opinion. Just trying to add context to the coin that the pics may not conveying.

AU-50. Obverse rim ding may knock it down a bit. Nice die cracks on reverse.

I'll assume it's probably either your pictures or my monitor; a solid XF45.
