In Trends they say to add extra value to the Canadian cents based on percentages of red factor, does this mean a MS65 red cent for example has an added value of 50-100% that is quite am increase for some coins and would be more for a lot of the new Landon coins that are in MS66/7 grades-- Am I reading this correctly ?

I can only speak for myself when evaluating Coins but here's my thoughts:
I think brown lustre is beautiful if it looks right. Red is also beautiful if it looks right.
There is some ugly brown lustre Coins out there and there is some ugle Red/ RB Coins out there.
When it comes to trends, dont take them as "hard facts" its all about eye appeal. I've had an MS64 brown coin that had absolutely no lustre to it. If you held it arms length away, you couldn't see the difference between it and a VF. But I've also had Coins that just shimmered and shined with this intense lustre of different shades of brown that I would choose over most red Coins.
Adding 50-100% value to a coin that's red would be a matter of taste
I wouldn't do it.
I would take the eye appeal in account too see what the value would be.
Rest in Peace

Red and the red/brown designations add considerably to the value of copper or copper/bronze issues of any country and any issues simply because collectors do pay so much more for them.

It is virtually impossible to clean a copper coin and have a result that looks anywhere near the original color. That is another reason collectors who know what to look for will pay so much more for the original red.

Market value and trends are 2 separate entities... Some Coins would be worth more than others for being red but to say its worth 50-100% more than trends is ridiculous.
Actual retail value is the price that someone is willing to pay.
Example: I have a 1931 penny in MS64- trends are $750. I wouldn't expect it to bring $1500 just because it's red. No, I expect it to bring closer to $750 ( maybe 550- 600 or so).
If it were brown I'd expect it to bring 350-400.
