I am trying to put a proof Canada One Cent collection together (1981 to 2012). I am using a list I got off this forum as a guide. Well, I ran into a snag. I discovered that for certain years there are special edition proof sets. I am having trouble finding out when these sets were issued. I have the 2003 (dated 1953-2003) coin, and I am aware that special edition sets also exist for 2010 (dated 1935-2010) and 2011 (dated 1911-2011). I have also purchased the 1998 Proof and antique finish Large Cents. Can someone give me a list of all known Proof Canada One Cent coins minted including the special editions or other special coins for example Gold plated annual report pennies. Thanks.

There were 2 proof sets in 2002, one with a gold plated dollar. Then in 2012 there was the silver proof penny, the first 9999 silver cent, is goes around $70.

Here is what I have so far. I have 1981 to 2012 regular proof including the 2002 double dated coin except for 2008 to 2011, which are more expensive, so I am trying to get them at auction. I am also waiting for a good deal for the 2010 (1935-2010) and 2011 (1911-2011) Special Edition issues, so I do not have them yet either. I have 2003 (1953-2003) in addition to the regular issue, but I do not yet have the gold plated Annual Report issue. I have the 2012 regular issue and also the silver issue with gold plating. I have the 1998 Proof and Antique Finish Large Cent Special Edition coins. The problem is I do not know if this is all of them or if there are still other Special Editions or Annual Report Gold Plated Issues.

I am only collecting the one cent coins.

Charlton Vol 2 has a very comprehensive list. Since I notice you're from the US, and rather than try figure out what you already have, I'll quickly type out the varieties.

Composition might interest you as well, up until and including 1996 proof pennies were copper. Then in the regular proof sets.:
Bronze.: 1997 - 2003; 2006; 2009
Copper: 2004 (uncrowned/maple twig); 2005; 2007(uncrowned, mint logo/twig); 2008; 2010; 2011; 2012
Silver: 2012 (Premium Proof Set, selectively gold plated)

In addition from Special Issue Proof sets
1998 (1908-) two types, silver with copper plating - Matte proof without "Canada" and Mirror proof with "Canada"
2003 (1953-) Copper, 50th Anniv of Coronation
2010 (1935-) Copper, 75 Anniv, voyageur (penny has maple leaf on each side of "cent")
2011 (1911-) Copper, 100th Anniv of silver dollar (penny is 100 yr old design as well)

Other
From Annual mint report
- Copper plated zinc/selectively gold plated
Notation indicates 2003 was the first in the series of six coins leading to RCM's centennial in 2008, however 2006 was the final one because the series was discontinued,

In 2003 there was also a "Coronation Coin and Stamp Set" in a presentation case that included two one cent coins (1953 and 2003) but those were MS, not proof finish.

2012 - Farewell to the penny, clamshell case
- 1/2oz silver, gold plated

Hope that helps!

There are a few interesting proof strikes for the Canadian 1-cent coin - thesis a collection I put together of non-conventional proof 1c coins (I chose the 2012 silver one here, as there is also a 2012 bronze 1c proof, from a base metal proof set). Missing from this are all the 2012 "Farewell to the Penny" coins. I might submit them to PCGS (except the 5 oz silver 1 cent).
