What struck me about this coin was the really nice strike.
Pun above was unintended, truly
Some unfortunate Reed Marks here and there spoil an otherwise really nice coin, with obviously nice luster. Once again, however, I'm faced with whether or not it's been cleaned.
$36 on Proxibid so not out too much for a nicely struck specimen.
Opinions welcome...

I agree- there is way to much chatter on this coin to be a 63.
Most notably the heavy cut in the neck centered between the 9 and 2 of the date. And about the IGWT motto.
Still is a beautiful coin, although personally the Peace dollar is my least favorite american coin.(That I can think of.)

It might make 63, but I really dislike the spotty tone that often occurs after a dip.

MS61, due to the extensive nicks and cuts.

Hi Moxking, that does help a lot. To know that happens after a dip. When I see that again, I'll know.
BigSilver, yeah, I know, too bad about those hits. Dollars are so big and heavy, they did get banged around a lot way back when. Back when they were just "pocket change".

I think it could make MS63. Very conservative 62. May have been dipped lightly at some point

Fairly clean surfaces with strong luster. A couple carbon spots and random chatter keep it out of 64 but I see little problem with this making 63.

I see too many marks for it to make MS-63.

MS-62.

wontgetlost, in the future it would be best to remove coins from the holder to get a better idea of the grade. The left side of this coin seems to be hidden by the glare on the 2 x 2 window. I was probably too quick to give this one a 63.
