I am trying to asses the market value or at least perceived value to those of you who both admirers and non-admirers of the series. Truth told, I may want to sell this one because I am seeking another life purchase (non-coin) and I need a solid $850. I hate picking off my gems but...

here is an 1868 from HA in PCGS MS62
sold last April 2015 at CSNS for $940 including BP

Here is my ANACS OWH MS62
total MSPL

What would you pay as a dealer and a retail consumer?

I'm wholesale at $800 / retail at $1,050

I think you are a bit high on your prices. 650-700 range is probably what you are looking at wholesale. The heritage example once you take away the 17.5% premium it was at 775 range. I've noticed that heritage seems to get way higher bids than ebay or other auctions.

I agree with the grade and it does have decent eye appeal. ANACS is not usually as well regarded as NGC or PCGS for resale. In this case it doesn't make a lot of difference because the coin is accurately graded. As long as you are checking Heritage, check the CDN too.

Without researching the variety I would look at Numismedia wholesale/retail which are $585/$700. The $940 Heritage result looks like an outlier that is 63+ type money these days.

I agree with the opinions so far. Your coin is very nice looking and certainly fairly graded. Certainly well struck as well. Have you checked seateddimevarieties.com to see if it's a valuable variety? If not, I can see this one pulling as much as $750.

As an F-104a I think 750 is quite decent.

to the right buyer it would be worth every penny of $800+ but at auction with the juice taken off I think you would be lucky to recover $650/700.
