Another Probus, another mint down. I also have two new obverse/reverse styles for my collection. I like the Mars reverse. It goes along well with the obverse on this one.

RIC 509 QXXI star-star. Common type I believe. I like that it was struck on an oversized flan.

The coin looks very nice, but what is that going on in the exergue with the mint mark?

Do you plan to "liberate" it from the slab?

Thanks everyone! Irbguy, the reverse die was probably rusty or pitted in some manner, at least that is what it looks like to me. I haven't decided on liberating it yet, I just don't have another storage system for raw coins set up that I prefer. But I would like to crack it out at some point yes.

that's a lovely probus on a sweet big flan...nice EFLC. i'd love to get one with that reverse type. I do have a rough probus from ticinum I picked up not to long ago...
