IMO, it was someone's pocket piece.

I was assuming it was just don't want one that was artificially worn in like a day with w buffer or rock tumbler where they get mushy looks. I want problem free.

I'm looking at it for my lowball 7070. I try to include as many pocket pieces as possible. So far my Peace dollar and Morgan is my only slick ones,

I think I would be asking myself, where did all the hard scratches come from. The coin looks smooth/worn other than that.

I'm not sure that's a lowball

Yeah I know I'm concerned about the scratches too but I figured I could wear them down and maybe retone it. I just don't want it to be a problem coin that more circulation won't fix. I figure this could serve as a faster cheat towards smooth Ike for my dansco.

I think Moe's stab is a good one. Actually, I guess this is a lowball for an Ike!

Aren't lowballs typically considered coins that are still identifiable by date / mintmark in the P1 / FR2 range? I think this would grade higher than that. Is a modern coin held to a different standard? I know the meaning is the lowest grade known, but usually lowball collectors often aren't too interested in coins with a higher grade than this.

darn that looks more worn then mine, but it also looks like it has more damage with those deep scratches.

I am not sure. The uneven wear on LIBERTY and IGWT bothers me, but it may be that the head does offer some protection over these areas. Same for the uneven wear on the reverse; the eagle may help.

Opps I have no clue what forum I put this in to begin with haha. I'm bad about just starting a topic from the last post I read without realizing it.
I know I'm hoping it looks better in hand but it wasn't that big of a gamble price wise just a few dollars more then shipping a normal Ike with face value.

It was in the US Classic forum. No problem. I might move it to the grading forum tomorrow if you do not get many more comments here.

Sounds great! I am sure your will have a better feel for its status once you have it in hand. For what it is worth, I do not think the scratches look bad, at least not bad enough to prevent your from carrying it around a while to add some wear. Also, if you do not get this one, then I hope you have better luck on the next opportunity.

Ok won it maybe overpaid but it was a 4.95 and free shipping. It's just hard to find a Ike in that condition.
I'm assuming it's impossible to tell which type this is at this point?
