Here's an interesting sideline to the British Isles & British Commonwealth coinage hobby. It is about the coins of Lundy, which is an island located in the Bristol Channel off the north coast of Devonshire. There were 2 issues of Lundy coinage - the 1929 issue which got Martin Coles Harman, the self-declared 'King of Lundy' in legal trouble. This issue is inscribed 'LUNDY LIGHTS AND LEADS' on the edge of the coins. The second issue is a proof-only issue struck in 1965 to commemorate the 40th Anniversary of Martin Coles Harman's purchase of Lundy. These pieces have plain edges.Martin Coles Harman died in 1954.
