Got this one out of the circ box (ammo box actually ) at my local B&M , thought it looked pretty nice because the color brings out the details nicely and for 14.50 how can you go wrong. I am sure the price will be up this week if silver stays above 16 dollars.

I have not visited VAMWorld on this one yet so any VAM suggestions would give me at least a starting point.

Hmmm. 1878, 3d Reverse (Reverse of 1879). Call it 35-40. Nothing striking to nail it as any specific VAM; it'll be necessary to go over it in detail for doubling and such to attribute the specific VAM.

I'd feel comfortable seeing that coin in an xf-40 grade.....and yes, for $14.50 you couldn't go wrong!

That coin toned long before it got to the ammo box that my dealer uses for the circs..but you can give it a try ! Thanks for the start SuperDave.

After a little scrutiny, I think the first couple stars to the right and left of date are doubled, and possible the 1 at the top of the bottom serif. Back of ear looks doubled...On the reverse, The bottom right serif looks doubled on the "T" in UNITED. I think the toning hides the wear somewhat, I would grade this close to SuperDave, VF-30 or so. Tough to see if things are doubled with that amount of wear on the devices.
