Can anyone explain why anyone would bid this high on a common date XF Morgan dollar? Textbook example of bidders getting caught up in auction fever?

Littleton has a huge number of buyers who have been buyers for years and only buy from Littleton, no matter how silly that might be.

There are a fair number of 'collectors' who only want to deal with one source, believe it or not. Littleton has done more advertising in more places for more years than anyone. Once they hook a fish, they keep them well fed.

Why? You see that number in the top right hand corner of the package, 1641.40

Well a LOT of uninformed people look at that and think it is a price tag or valuation. I'm not kidding. I've seen a lot of people that have inherited or been given Littleton coins bring them into a coin shop and when they are quoted a price get all upset and insist "it's worth a lot more than that!" Then they point to that stock number and say "It's worth XXX.XX! It says so right there!"
