Hello all, another newbie question for you all. Last night I started looking through one of my boyfriend's many cans of coins and found this oooopsie 1991 quarter. As you can see, it was struck incorrectly. Can someone please tell me the proper term to describe this coin, and is it just a curiosity? JD

Collar was not in position when coin was struck allowing the metal expansion-no reeding on the edge either correct?

Reeding? You mean the tiny lines? Let me look... Nope, I don't see any. And it doesn't look like they are worn off, either.

Collar is essentially the 3rd die when the dies strike the planchet the metal expands into the collar forming he reeds you normally see on a quarter-nice coin! As for current values you can do an ebay search
