For those of you that have visited the CU boards, you will know that Mr. Hall has agreed to a "talk" about this system. However, the scale would not include "new" standards nor better grading, just shifting to higher numbers. The following is an example written by Mr. Hall.

100=70
99=69
98=68
97=67
96=66
95=65
94=64
93=63
92=62
91=61
90=60
88=58
85=55
83=53
80=50
75=45
70=40
65=35
60=30
55=25
50=20
35=15
30=12
25=10
20=8
15=6
12=4
10=3
8=2
5=1

Can anyone explain how this will help? Granted we are a nation that has based almost everything on the power of 10, but if there is "NO" improvement why bother?
Rest in Peace

It's not only not going to help since it's already almost impossible for any two people or any two grading services to agree on the differences between one grade and the next upper or lower grade with the 70 point system, but the transition is going to be abominable with two concurrent systems in use for many, many years. The potential for fraud will be huge, especially in the zones of overlap in the circulated grades: I can see someone trying to pass off a VF-20 as an AU-50 or an F-12 for a VF-30. Why replace one barely workable system with another which will be equally (or more so) unworkable and will insert a great deal of confusion?

What I cannot see is spending an awful lot of bucks to have all my coins regraded for the new system. But, this might be the advocates' point...

How many millions have been graded by the top 4 services?

Even if the reslab price was $5 per coin, it would equal many great retirement portfolio's....................If the deal passes, the best numismatic investment might be buying PCGS stock.....

I see absolutely no merit in this at all. It will confuse collectors further and cause general problems in my opinion.

There is no open!! Repeat no OPEN to the public reason for the change!!

But we all can be sure that there is a reason and it will line the pockets of someone !!

As for the system itself, I would like to see the TPG's go to this system and have 0 submissions for several months and put this hobby back in the hands of the collector !!

These guys who are proposing this change IMNSHO need to be put in there place by the collector community ,,

By the way I'm opposed to such a system and can see no benefit to the collector for it !!

If it would ever work it would generate a lot of cashflow
As it stands I see only one reason for slabbing and that is
authentication of old or dubious coins and that does not need
100 point grading scale : only a slab or a boddybag
