I need some info on a key date half 1894 Vicky half that I like. My LCF friend has this coin in his shop. Its listed for $750. US dollars. vf/xf little wear not scratched,or dented may have been cleaned a long time back. Low mintage 29k. He wants to trade me for it, to go in my Dansco Canadian Type set. I also need some other Vicky type coins and early date others. You folks probably know better than I do and could get a good idea and I will get a picture. Not junk What could I sell wholesale or retail for if I ever had the need Many Thanks for any help Gary

Just bear in mind a US graded Vicky half in VF/EF could be graded by the Canadian company ICCS as only a Fine.
Hopefully not, but I'm just saying......

It sounds like I should trade him out it. Were those prices Canadian?
It seems to be a good coins to have in my book. It looks good and he don't sell much Canadian in his store and wants to move it.

gary: I pulled those prices off of a web site called coinsandcanada.com It's a very popular website used by many here.... while the values are pulled from ebay sales they do not indicate if the funds were in USD or CAD on the site. I'm inclined to believe that the funds are CAD but someone could correct me on that if I'm wrong.

I looked through some ebay ones and saw that the G6 ones sold for roughly $400 CDN. Couldn't find anything higher. There are two VF20 that sold at $2000 CDN, but from the same seller and a month apart (it was the same coin, so it must have been returned and relisted)

Thanks for the info.
I have a thing about Canadian coins. I thought this one looked good and a rare date and I would like to have in my Type set with quality coins to show and have value if I had to sell for emergency purpose only.
Also this is raw in a 2x2 my reason to post with CCF as I know I will get the truth.
He was willing to trade and he deals in anything of value from guns to antiques etc.

Buy only an ICCS graded key date Vicky half that has NO PROBLEMS. The last one we sold at a coin show 1894 in VG 10 ICCS which with grade flation is today's FINE 12 Old two letter embossed . I asked Fine money the guy wrote a cheque without even asking for a discount. The 1894 half is one of my personal top ten underrated favourites in the Canadian series. No problems in the grade ORIGINAL coins with mid grey original colour , no damage , nice rims and never played with are RARE. To help you along if you want a Vicky Half for a type set find a nice VF 1870 or 1881 H. Perfect type set coins.

I looked at the coin as a Vicky half dated 1894 in nice VF/XF cleaned in a 2x2. Nice cond. For $750
I looked Saturday and it was a genunine 1892 in AU in a PCGS slab, but on the reverse of slab was marked as AU details, priced at $700 but not gradeable.
I dont know what happened to the 1894 I looked at a day earlier
