This coin has me a little confused.
obverse: The bottom of the 'T''s in the legend have a little high have a tiny high point which is unworn. However there are other small areas on the design that have high points that are flattened, such as curls above the king's ear, side of nostril, and a tiny flat spot on the king's eyebrow.
reverse: Shoulder of the leopard has a tiny flat spot (probably not fully struck up), no obvious wear elsewhere. Crown detail good.
Would like to compare next to a known genuine coin.
Assuming weight, diameter and edge milling look OK.
I don't KNOW of any high quality fakes of these, but news of their existence would not surprise me.

Here you go sel This is my 1787 sixpence as a comparison. Graded by NGC at AU55. Other than being pretty harshly cleaned I think the OP's coin looks genuine.

I agree with Sel and Trout. I have never seen a fake. It has been cleaned.
I will also add it is the no hearts type.(Top shield on the reverse...Hanoverian Shield) It is a common coin and the hearts/no hearts appear in the same nrs.

Wear is evenly consistent with trout's coin, and is consistent with AU55.

Also I just noticed something different from my coin and trouts - the space between the 'I' and the Kings head is inconsistent, does that raise some alarm bells ?

No alarm bells in my opinion. I have a number of coins with the 1's of the ordinal being high or low or close or far.
