Can anyone help with this one. I can't find much info on it. I found one small blurb that it is rare, but no pictures and no value. I would think if it was rare there would be a premium on it. Maybe its time for me to buy some books.

You are right - that certainly is a tiny mint mark. Hopefully you'll get some good news on the value. I know there are enough collectors of that series that something special like that micro S will usually have at least some slight margin over the common issues.

The book I own is titled, A Register of Liberty Seated half dollar Varieties Volume I San Francisco Branch Mint by Bill Bugert.

I am leaning towards it being a Micro S.

The above book has the necessary info to help you determine which die pair it came from. There are 10 die pairs for the Micro S, all but one are R-3 or R-4.

However, this book does not mention values.

If you want to purchase a copy, Rich Urich has some for sale on his site. That is where I acquired my copy from. http://www.richuhrichcoins.com/category.php?cat=18

My apologies if this post seems all over the place.

Thanks for your time looking it up. 1876 micro S is what I thought also. I might just throw it on ebay with a small premium.

I have not put a price on it yet. Still want to find the correct variation.
