Sadly, I think it is time to call it quits and sell my collection, beginning with my best coins. My Whitman RedBook is about 6 years old, so I was wondering what I could expect to get out of these coins today if I was to sell them myself, or to a dealer for wholesale value.

First up is an ANACS holdered 1917 (Variety 1) Liberty quarter, graded MS-62, and FH (The scratches you see on the reverse are on the plastic of the holder and not the coin). The photo below was taken by the auctioneer:

The coin seems to have toned a little bit since I got it, on the top of the obverse. This toning is starting to resemble the toning on my half, which you will see posted below:

Second up, ANACS holdered 1828 O-117a, AU-55 graded Capped Bust Half:

Again, these are auction pics. The toning around the top of the obverse shines as a light navy blue, where the toning around the obverse is darker, almost like a blue-green mix.

Thanks for looking!

Here's the latest ANACS auction results for these types/grades. Unfortunately the holders hurt the value somewhat, particularly the blue one. The color could add value for sure though.

Sorry to hear you're leaving the hobby. Come back sometime!

How much of a premium do you think the toning will add to both coins?

Depends on the buyer of course. I would think a 50% premium would not be out of the question though. If those pieces were in PCGS problem-free slabs I'm sure you'd get a 50% premium over the linked prices (at retail auctions).

Thanks, I will try and figure out a way to get these coins crossed-over for a reasonable price. Shipping insurance with PCGS appears to be very high for shipping north of the border.

I don't think I would bother with crossover, but that's me. Just set a reserve price or make it a buy now and see what happens. You can can also look up prices at ha.com, ebay, and PCGS price guide to get other ideas about pricing.

Try ebay or maybe try to work out a deal with a fellow ccf member maybe through PayPal. I'd be interested in the 1917 ms62 at $200. Since I am working on a standing Liberty set. Let me know if this piques your interest via a PM. Thanks.

Thanks for the offer, though I can't let it go for $200 given that it is a Full Head.

Something about the silver used for the 1828 o.117 die marriage. Mine is a real nice toner as well. I have seen others as well.
