I think this may be one of those gold plated dollars. Super shiny which has made it nearly impossible for pictures taking, but I hope you all can help me out.

I say gold plated because:
1. is to crazy shiny
2. Excellent in details - like barely showing no wer down on any of the devices.
3. It has a few nicks in where you can see under the plating, but it is silver/grayish looking (not sure if that should be or not)
4. The coloring compared to the other normal dollars, well it doesn't match hopefully you can see the difference well enough from my pictures.

I put it up against my 14K gold necklace for comparison and it is a good match both in coloring and shinyness (if that is even a word).

Anyways I have spent most the day trying to figure this out and get pictures. Kinda silly because it is probably only worth a couple of buck - but just to find this from vending machine change would be a cool story to go along with the coin.

I just can't figure out how to determine if it is or isn't. who know these day it may even be a fake (though I hope not)

Please let me know your thoughts.

If you want to know absolutely for sure you need a gold testing kit to determine the karat maybe take it to a jeweler if need be.

Appears to be very lightly plated. What is the weight in grams?

don't know the weight, I just ordered a scale though and should have it in sometime next week. If it is such a light coating would it even register on the scale.
The one I ordered starts is 0.00g up to 500g.

I jeweler is a great idea as well.

Look at the edge to see if you can see the copper core- golden dollars are clad just like dimes, quarters, and half dollars. If copper is not visible, then the coin was most likely plated.

No clad visible, all gold, even in the recesses. It hook a bit of a hit on the edge (pic 7) which shows a silvery color under it.

thank you
