Thanks rocky, my purpose was both for close inspection of coins (my eyesight is not so good anymore) and also coin photography. My past efforts at photographing individual coins seem to be not nearly up to what I have seen on this forum. I guess this was a somewhat lazy way to approach coin photography. Using a usb microscope with the pic on my 17" laptop seems to be a good way to check details, though. I did order a different unit which should be delivered Wednesday. I will post results after I get some experience with it. I still welcome any comments and opinions on this.

yakimaboy good. if you do change your mind we can help you with a way to view coins in liveview. with a canon camera. if you do decide that might like to try a camera. I would suggest you go to elcheapo thread and contact ray. just leave him a post. he can set you up with everything with what you will need. either way we will help you if you need help. have a great one and good searching.

This is why I like mine, it doesn't take up much space and you just plug it into the USB port on the computer. Easy Peasy.....you'll want 10x-200x or so. 10x enables a scope to take a pic of a Morgan sized coin.

Ok, my MAOZUA 5MP USB Microscope arrived yesterday and the first thing I found with it is that the support pole seems to be to short for pics of dollar coins, so, I went to Ace hardware and got a dowel that I put in the base and then the pole over that. It seems to work ok. I played around with different settings and took this pic of a clad Ike. Comments and suggestion always welcome.
