To be honest I have the feeling that if you want to sell a French commem you have to sell it to a German collector cause nobody else seems to be buying .( except Kitty in Japan ) So the collectors are German charmed by the high quality of the proofs and of course German shops buy the coins, absorb the goldtax only France has and then try after the gold series closes officially at the mint to sell them at a quick profit nearly always to German collectors

Isn't 35 Euros a little high for shipping costs, even in Germany? And if I understand my Deutsch a litte (very little), he has not put a Reserve on this gold coin? Fred

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there may be a translation error someplace here. I think Verne's book title was "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" rather than miles. A league is about three nautical miles. However, I always learned the title in English as "League" and the "miles" may be a translation or, more likely a transcription error from its original French title Vingt mille lieues sous les mers in while "mille" was misinterpreted as "mile" instead of "thousand". No the translation error is mine since I got an original copy of the first flemish translations sitting next to me and the translation from flemish into english would make it miles

Timbouctou aka Timbukto is a legendary city in Mali significant to Islam. I'm also not at all certain why it comes up in children's literature and ditties, but I remember it from my earliest childhood (which we all know was the same era as the dinosaurs ). It's also a popular reference to going nowhere, e.g., "From here to Timbukto...".
