Poll Question
I have another ebay gamble. I don't think it will turn out as good as the last one did. Decided to make a list on the good vs bad on this auction since there's no pictures. I personally don't really have any high hopes for this one, but I'll at least have an example of pretty big error nickel.

Bad
-No pictures
-Buy it now price
-3 day auction
-Impulse buy at 3:30 am
-Seller has sold other damaged coins in his previous transactions with other ebayers
-Suspicious story

Good
-Seller has close to 500 feedback
-99.8% positive feed back
-If real, good price ($9.99)
-Free shipping

Auction description:

"US SHIPS FREE 1867 Shield nickel 25% Clipped Planchet - This is my first clipped planchet coin and I have been collecting over 25 years, purchased from reputable dealer as Clipped Planchet. Nickel is dark in appearance both sides, common for this series; Obverse: Date "1867" best feature this side of coin; 50% Outline of Shield visible (very bottom 5 o'clock - 7 o'clock and 9 o'clock - 1 o'clock); Outline of Cross complete, bit of Olive Leaves to left of Shield identiable; CLIPPING is from "T" in TRUST straight line thru to 0.5" to right of date. Reverse: Good sharp strike and better of the two sides, "5" sharp and raised; 9 and 1/2 Stars sharp strike; sharp Reeded Edge 6 o'clock to 9 o'clock; "CENTS" sharp and raised w/ mild spots, LEGEND dark in appearance "D STATES" letters clear w/ mild spots. Shipping price for US bidders only, all others please inquire. Recent issue of Coin Prices magazine lists value of $16.00 for specimen in Good; no grade or value inferred, price is for reference only. PayPal or Walmart money order payment accepted."

Good Gamble?

Pictures!
For some reason, alot of the pictures I took that day didn't come out. This are the ones that were decent. If you want anymore pictures, just ask.

Although my actual opinion is in between, I voted "Idiot!" because I've always wanted to call a member that without fear of reprisal.

$9.99 sounds like a fair price for the coin w/o the clipped planchet. Good Luck.

I hate it that in order to choose negative, I have to call you an idiot.

As to the ebayer, I wouldn't buy anything from him. If a person has sold damaged coins on ebay without including that in the description, I woundn't even look.

But if it's worth the risk to you, the price seems right.

I've never bought from him before, but I looked at some of the other auctions he sold in the past and some of those coins were damaged but they were disclosed to the buyer. He seems to give pretty good descriptions(but has no pictures) and all of this past buyers seemed pleased with him.

I hope it works out for you, but I can't believe a "25%" planchet clip that circulated. Best of luck, though!!

No pics, no bid. Couldn't care less about their feedback because without GOOD photos, I won't get that far.

That's what I was thinking when I was reading the auction.

Exactly, it's only $10 bucks.

Pics will be posted when I get it.
Rest in Peace

I don't like being repeditive but I always say you just have to go to a coin show. Those are all over the place. Usually for $1 to $5. Just becoming to common and I wonder how many are real.

Sorry Amazon, but you afforded me the opportunity by default to refer to you as an idiot. I was hoping I would never have to do that here in CC, but you invited it.

Back in 1997 when I first got on ebay, most auctions did not have images then, you hoped it would meet your expectations. Nowadays, no pic, no bid. Otherwise you are taking a gamble.

Hope it works out for you, but if it doesn't to go find who is responsible, visit the wash room and go look in that shiney thing that looks like a window
