The last frank by Starck but in gold 2001

Very nice except it was damaged in transport
look at the telltale mark on the capsule on boths sides
Since the frank is waved it rotates in the capsule and damages
itself and the capsule

Ageka, are any of these last five worth very much more than bullion as numismatic collector items? Asked in another way, with a limited strike of only 500 or less, is there much of a coin collector market for these MdP gold coins or are the buyers mostly investors or gold speculators? With the exception of the Chopin (for Poland) and Kitty (for Japan) and maybe a couple others, there doesn't seem to be much competition for MdP gold coins. I think if these were offered in the US, the bidding would be heavy and the prices would go way up.

Fred I consulted my statistics
Without box and certificate and secondary white wrapping these may go anywhere between minus 3% up to 40% over melt
The french are the only country in Europe I know that tax gold
which may be an explanation
Also these coins seem to be offered 90% of the time on the German ebay
and not the French ebay
The french only seem to collect gold pre 1900 which even I can obtain at melt at an exchange agent in XF down to the 1860's were hoarding started I presume

Hmm
To answer your question I do not know anybody trying for all the coins in the MdP series ( too many and some look ugly to me )
When bidding I seem allways up against scavengers or thematic collectors mostly all different people .

Another strange thing is that I have the perception these coins all lost money to the person that bought them straight from the mint
apart from Chopin and maybe some selected others
But who knows what Chopin will be worhth in 2012

Of course with gold in euro up by 50% the last few years I feel
comfortable looking at my pretty coins

Strange notion of what a fox looks like. Appears to me it's got some rabbit in it. Or mule.

I knew Spain was allways underweight I had not realised France was
going the same way
