Hi! I'm totally new to this. My dads been metal detecting for a long time and has found some amazing stuff. This has us totally baffled and we have no idea where to even start to identifying it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.

It's a copper or brass coin of Elizabeth II.

On the obverse can be clearly seen the bottom half of Mary Gillick's effigy of Elizabeth II. (used on all pre-decimal coinage of Elizabeth II)

I can also see at 2 O'Clock on the obverse the letters "ABE" in ELIZABETH.

I can't be sure without knowing the diameter, but my guess would be a very beaten up brass theepence.
