Quite often, they made of good quality gold. They are euphamistically known as 'jeweler's copies'. I would think they were made from recovered scrap gold. Report this Post to the Staff
moxking Rest in Peace United States 17900 Posts	Posted 02/15/2016 7:00 pm I'm at EF-45 for grade. I don't see any warning signs that would hint of this being a fake. However, gold dollars are most certainly known for counterfeits. As has been mentioned, a weight is your best defense against this being a fake. Note that if you are intending TPG certification, these can be more expensive to have graded (by NGC) because of the 'odd' denomination. Report this Post to the Staff
