How I do it ..
I decide on how many I think I might want, 1 roll,
2 rolls ... 10 rolls.
Then cull out the lower grades for the better grade
coins I find.
Also .. how many do you think you might be able to
sell in the future? How many will you need for you
collection?
I see a lot of older collections, where
older collectors kept certain coins with hopes they
would be worth more sometime in the future.
Examples - Bicentennial coins,
SBA's or 1958 BU
Lincoln cents. These were kept at such a level that
there is no real value.
For 2009 cents, many have BU rolls. They were picked up
at banks and coin shows. I have around 20 rolls in my
collection. At one point I had 50 roll boxes I got from
my bank. I could not see me keeping that many and sold
them to other collectors.
The 2009 Lincolns I like are the proofs or the cents from
mint sets. These are the older 95% copper and have a lower
mintage compared to the business strikes.
