I found this 1941 nickel today, what would cause this perfect circular error?

Not an error, it is damage caused by a counting/rolling machine.

Rolling machines sure kill a lot of coins.

Just one per roll max, but that is just on one side of that coin.

Thank you for helping me. I've seen other coins like that, wasn't sure what would cause that:)
Does it usually only effect one side of the coin?

Just the outside face of the coin that was crimped closed. (But not all coins are damaged each time by the crimping process. Just enough to be annoying)

Also counting machines and vending machines damage coins as well.
