I used to do pennies, but the chance of finding anything good is so small for me at my bank. I'm thinking either quarters, dimes, or halfs. What do yall recommend? Or is CRHing now worthless because of its popularity these days?

I only do customer wrapped rolls (CWR) of any denomination. Statistically, it's better than bank rolls because there's no chance of getting solid date rolls and every now and then someone turns in a collection and that's where the good stuff is.

I use CENTS, and I usually find 20 wheats per box, about 5-7 RPMs (I only look for RPMs on the ones from the 50s and 60s though), and a handful of 2009 cents. For me boxes of cents yield the most results per box.

I would say quarters simply because of the large amount of reverses, that is if you're going for sets. For silver I'd say halves but it is definitely getting harder to find good scores. For varieties and just older coins, I'd go with cents.

I'm partial to cents and nickels, since I find more older coins in those boxes. I scored two silver dimes in the one dime box that I've searched and I might do another one.
Quarters: no luck for me, and that's the same with the halves.
However, I'm tempted to do another half dollar box.

In my opinion CRH is Never worthless. If you want Silver I would suggest Half Dollars or Dimes. Quarters are the hardest to find any Silver. In Cents the best you can find is Wheats, Proofs, and Error Coins and maybe a Indian Head penny.

yeah it depends on what you value most, you can really find a lot of old coins in nickels and pennies. quarters are hard to find silver anymore it seems, but you could really stock up on ATBS if you want.

I do nickels because I am trying for a full set of Jeffersons from circulation.

My bias opinion would be Nickels *It is a set that can still be made complete from CRH *It is underrated and undervalued with tons of upside *Many finds of coins 50-78 years old. *Historic WW 11 silver nickels can be found. *Chances at Buffalo & Liberty V nickels*Chance to find and start a Foreign collection at 5 cent face a coin. *Many Errors and varieties if desired *Lots of circulated AU/BU finds **WARNING can be highly addictive**

If you can spare $200 bucks I started buying the bags of nickels from the change sorter at my local credit union. I feel if someone is rolling nickels by hand they are more likely to find the buffalo head, but the change counters, everything comes in a jar and dumped in it. I have only done one bag, found a 39, some silver and a buffalo head.

Use to be a time they thought you crazy if you searched dimes. Nowadays, everyone's crazy.
Dimes, the new halves.

If you want to build a set, end to end, nickels. If you want to find silver, then work through a rotation of dimes, quarters, and half dollars. Of course, search cents if you want to build your 95% copper and Wheat cent stash.

I have had good luck with the Dollars. 1979 Near Dates - S proof coins, no chance at silver.
I am working on a set of the Sac's and Presidents

I'm new to CRH and coin collecting in general. I inherited various coins from part of my grandfathers collection and was immediately drawn to wheat cents for some reason. There is no shortage of banks in my area and haven't had a problem finding interesting coins so far. Last box was from a bank that I don't even have an account at and so far has produced a few error coins along with wheats and 2009s.

Welcome gratefuldad it sounds like you are hooked on crh!
I also have a fondness for those wheat cents. I'm not into roll hunting them anymore, but I have dug over 1500 in the last half dozen years.
