I've got this little lot of dimes and some 64 nickles I'm considering trading in at my LCS. I really like them, but the hobby claims too much $$$. So I am forced to choose a direction to aim my goals. That being Eagles, Maples, silver era dollars and halves. And again, as you all know... Each aspect is not easy or cheap.

With that being said... All of you Mercury/Barber guys. Do you see anything at quick glance that would pique the interest of the dime world?

Also, in trade what should I expect from my LCS? Thank you ladies & gents!

Unfortunately there is nothing here that has any value beyond its worth as junk silver; all the dimes are very common dates. Currently my local coin store is buying junk silver for 9x face and selling it for 12x face, so you can likely expect to receive $0.80-$1.00 per coin on average.

If they are 1964 nickels that you are referring to, those are only worth $0.05 each.

I would like to use the old term... "Cool"! But there's not much to the cool factor going on here. lol. It is kind of what I expected. I'm good with that though. $7 or so off my next acquisition. How does that old adage go. Addition by subtraction?

I believe my LCS would be about $6 and whatever the FV of the nickels are.

id say try ebay, but even if you could sell them for 15x ($7.50), you'd be out at least $2 for ebay fees, PayPal and shipping.

If they were mine I would just keep the dimes. It's only 7 bucks and you may regret it later.

You're probably right. What's the worst thing that can happen, silver will drop to $13... Oh, wait a minute..
