It is with nostalgia that I re-publish this older video because 99% of my coins are now gone. Looking back at the images I realize some were awesome coins. Lots of happy owners I'm sure.
That's really an incredible artistic tribute of your past collection, canadian_coins. Thanks for sharing and I can understand why it's somewhat nostalgic, looking back. The new owners were extremely fortunate to be buying at the same time you were selling...
@silveroid, the reason I sold is mainly because I lost interest in the myriad of new releases and I was unable to focus on any particular topic.
I got confused, and ran our of funds!
Actually I began selling all my circulating coins first. What motivated me there was twofold: 1) I never use coins anymore so I figured that eventually we will no longer need coins and as a result the hobby would eventually fade away. 2) fakes.
So, I'm wrapping up selling all my remaining coins except X for X. I also have the Chinese lunar subscriptions that I will complete.
I think the trend will be in high quality certified coins, including NCLTs also. I may be wrong but I think this is a path worth considering given all the fakes out there.

Thanks for clarification
Exactly my case, but looks like I early understood where it can lead, and stopped to get whatever I like. even discounted and even over-discounted. In order to save the "core" decided to sell the rest, and to get 1 coin per month max...
I took a small break, so am catching up on reading now. What an amazing presentation and collection. It showed a real passion, a beautiful tribute to the coins, this you will always have. I echo many of your sentiments and have drastically reduced my purchases. Can you share what tools you used to create your video. I should do something similar and then sell off a bunch. I have felt my passion wane, then seeing picks on the forum, reignites the collecting urge again. I have set myself a budget, where I never used to. Big negative factors for me are the rampant counterfeits and the drastic drop in issue price within mere months of release. A video collection takes far less room and no security risks.
Quote: Silveroid, you strike me as an astute collector of NCLT, mind sharing what you've chosen as your "core"?
Yes, sure: I started and like the "Coins about the Coins" "Animal Theme" Maple leafs (the special edition of them) Unfortunately, for the last 2, RCM overdone recently, which caused me just to keep selected sets and couple of my custom combined sets. I decided also slightly to move to the art, that's why I will keep the Go7 and 6 Masks that I have (the Mask coins have the parallel with NZ Maori Art series).
At bottom line: less than the coin per month
I like the circulation too - Canadian or Australian, and specially like the "unusual" - commemorative ones. What I do not feel "mine" in the circulation - the rarity of the circulation coin in some year due to very low mintage. As example - 1948 SD looks the same for me as 1935 SD, so design wise I'll prefer 1935+1958 rather 1935+1948 .....
Thanks for that Silveroid. Your transition and limitations are likely the reason that collecting keeps you inspired. Focus and discipline are certainly two essential traits if one chooses to stay involved in the buying world of NCLT for a longer period of time.
Pocket Change, nice to see you posting again and I also can understand why you might feel the way you do. While my purchases of NCLT comprise mainly of annual sets, I admit I do enjoy admiring (or critiquing) the monthly releases but for the most part I feel absolutely no need to buy, it's a little like window shopping. At some point in time you might also find it somewhat educational and entertaining in a round about way, with a detached view, to observe the various techniques utilized in an attempt to entice people to buy what they might not be otherwise interested in. Regardless, the learning experience and personal growth can make all worthwhile.
@ wildflower I always enjoy reading your posts. The forum is a great place to share ways to enjoy a collection. The above presentation is a marvelous way to enjoy a collection that has been sold or packed away.
It has gotten me thinking of trimming back the excess and having a photo album collection of the ones I sell.
Its always fun to see whats in others collections. I find sometimes I see new details I had not noticed before in images that are posted. Its amazing the quality of images that are posted.
C_C I love your photos, I looked at your ebay store images and they are breathtaking.
